Implement GDPR Compliance (EU GDPR) and nDSG

Properly store relevant data

The major challenges in implementing the EU Directive on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the new Swiss Data Protection Act (nDSG) are unstructured data. Studies show: more than 50 percent of the data in companies is “dark data” with unknown content.

How can the millions of files and e-mails that have accumulated over the years be efficiently searched for personal data, and how can risks be identified and eliminated? How can the business relevance of each individual data object be determined and how can information lifecycle management be automated? How can it be ensured that relevant data is retained, current data is protected and data that is no longer required is deleted in a timely and correct manner?

Fast compliance with data protection regulations

The DataGovernance Solution (DGS) offers a unique solution with an “information-centric” approach to implement the GDPR requirements with little effort, avoiding penalties and minimizing the risks. The solution uses big data and data mining concepts and automatically generates a business view of unstructured data. The solution is designed in such a way that data owners, data protection officers and auditors with little IT knowledge can recognize the relevance of the data and take action.

DGS regularly scans repositories for new or changed files. The solution extracts meta information, access permissions and content and stores a profile of each data object in a meta information system. The profiles can be automatically compared and supplemented with structured business data from a wide variety of company databases or external lists. The various pieces of information are then linked and analyzed interactively using an OLAP cube.

With a few mouse clicks, DGS answers all important questions: Where is personal data about customers, employees, patients, etc.? What is the relationship between the people and the organization? Is the content still business relevant? Is the data sensitive? Who has access to what?

Data objects can be tagged directly from the analysis or classified, protected, moved, archived or deleted in a controlled manner on the file system. Enterprise deletion processes can be automated.

Data protection and information lifecycle management is that easy!
